Ink Compatibility Icons

Every product in the Dietzgen catalog has a set of ink compatibility icons that appears on product information. Each colored icon represents a specific printer and ink type, with a colored ring around each ink compatibility icon. The colored ring around each ink compatibility icon was recently updated on our websites, data sheets and collateral tools.

 Why we made this change …

The colored ring around each ink compatibility icon is an additional key that displays if a product looks “good” or looks the “best” with a specific type of ink. Our goal was to make it easier for you to determine the performance of our products with each print technology.

We decided the change was necessary based on feedback from our resellers and our end users. Print technology constantly changes or improves as our industry evolves. As technology changed, we discovered that some of our products performed very well on some printers straight out of the box. While other products required some additional printer adjustments to provide optimal performance.

How we determined compatibility …
Ink and printer compatibility were determined in our print lab, together with customers and the printer manufacturers.
Here are the benchmarks used during product testing.

Products with the green colored “BEST” ring around the ink compatibility icon exhibited exceptional print performance with that ink type. These products worked well with OEM settings right out of the box. The resulting prints were high quality and required no adjustments on the printer or RIP software. Choose these products if you are looking for superior results in a short amount of time.

Products with the yellow colored “GOOD” ring around the ink compatibility icon exhibited acceptable print performance with that ink type. These products worked with OEM settings, but they required adjustments on the print, RIP software or both in order to produce acceptable results. Choose these products if you are comfortable making the adjustments yourself and you have the time to do it.
